Fara San Martino is a historic small village located close to Majella Mountain: it is the gateway to a National Park. It is part of Borghi Autentici d’Italia Association and has been awarded the “Orange Flag” by the National Touring Club which recognizes it as a unique and valuable part of our Italian heritage. Walking around the village it is possible to visit several fascinating monuments. Passing through the old door “Porta del Sole”, it is possible to arrive at “Terra Vecchia”, the old town.

In the Church of San Remigio you can appreciate the view of a very interesting fresco “La Circoncisione” which goes back to the 16th century. Very close to the village are also the Gole di San Martino where it is possible to join a guided tour through the ancient San Martino Monastery built in the 8th century. Finally, in the centerlly located Park Museum, tourists can get information on the park and the various activities it offers.
